NILE C. KINNICK HIGH SCHOOL Navy 570 Box 8 FPO San Francisco, California 795, 3-chome, Honmoku Naka-ku, Yokohama HAROLD U. COPE, Principal Tel: 20-0187 DOUGLAS M. SPAULDING, Vice Principal Tel: 20-0115 29 August 1962 Mr. and Mrs. Nile C. Kinnick, Sr. 1114 South 79th Street Omaha 6 Nebraska Dear Mr. and Mrs. Kinnick: Once again this time of year rolls around when school begins and our new student body gets adjusted to being part of the Nile Kinnick student body. We have an increased enrollment this year and are anticipating that before long our student body will number over seven hundred (700) in grades 7 through 12. These first few days, the students have all seemed eager and willing and as usual, it has been a pleasant beginning. Needless to say, before the year is out we'll have had many problems but we hope that each problem will result in the growth of a boy or girl. About a month ago we mailed you a copy of our 1962 Annual. This book came out rather late this year due to problems between our students doing the layout and the printer, yet now that it is out and we have had a chance to evaluate it, we are happy with its competence. I think, more than anything else, this book can give you a clear and true picture of our school. Several students came in this summer and as we were talking about proposed alterations and changes in our physical plant for this school year they suggested that it would be most fitting if we had a picture of your son at the entrance way of our school. This idea has been mentioned to the Student Council and they feel very interested in carrying it out. If you could supply us with a clear photo, we will have it enlarged to the appropriate size here, have it framed and d isplayed in a prominent place within our main foyer. Mr. Stalling, who for several years has been the advisor to our Annual and who, I realize, has written you on several occasions is no longer a member of our faculty. He left us last year in order to take a position with the Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville, Texas. Miss Lloyd, our new Annual sponsor and especially two students, Robert Wyckoff and Virginia Crowell were responsible for the Annual you will be receiving.
