December us arrived about 1/2 past 2 o'Clock A.M. recd a letter from Ann Eliza D. 16th fell in in the morning & changed camp about 100 rods as the sun was nearly down we fell in & marched about 2 1/2 miles towards the rebs where our forces were massed & took our position in a corn field lay there all night rained very hard slept on corn stalks keep out of the water
