January fortifications shoveling dirt. 3rd Sunday in camp all day all quiet. 4th on piquet 5th went out in the county 7 miles got some meal brought it in on a mule the first day I ever rode on a mule 6th all day in camp snow enough fell to nearly cover the ground 7th worked on fortifications & went out foraging got some mutton about two inches of snow fell during the night
