January about 8 PM the bugle sounded strike tents we fell in & started about 9 oClock marched all night & gained 4 miles. hard fighting in the afternoon & evening 18th marched to Strawberry plains found the 2nd mich Infty in our camp we camped among them worn out & sleepy & when we lay down & fell asleep the villains stole our rations & all other movable articles they could find
