May Gen Lee, in the afternoon our regt went on picket on the side of a mountain considerable skirmishing & some cannonading on our right, we can look down into the rebel camps, from the top of the mountain we can see Dalton the country is very broken 9th as the morning dawned the fighting commenced both on the right & left
