May march in 10 minutes we packed up & lay around & waited untill nearly sun rise then started & marched to Snake Creek gap & through it there we halted & stacked arms lay there about 2 hours fighting distinctly heard in front fell in again & marched about 1 mile in line of battle halted in line & stacked arms at dark we spread our blankets & slept with our harness on about 9 oclock we
