You did not write much news. You dated your letter at Sade's & then said "you will see by this that I am at Koszta" but I could not see it. I don't know but Sade lives in Newton or Martial Town. but I finally conclude you were at Koszta, and I doubt not that you had a very pleasent time. I should have liked to have been there, to have enjoyed the church privileges & the music. I have not heard a sermon nor been to meeting since I came on to this island, nor have I heard any good music for a longer time than that. I hope it will not be as much longer till I hear both. The news is indeed good all that the most sanguin could have expected. We hear that Johnston has surrendered & that Curby Smith is capitulating at the mouth of Red River. I am anxious to hear what the excitement amounted to in the north when Lincoln was murdered. That was meloncoly news to us. An
