It so happened that in finishing the first sheet I Did not have to wind up In a complimentary therefore concluded to add by 1/2 sheet more This trip of mine is destined to be an Expensive one but not an unprofitable one if Life and Health is spared to us for Many operations In surgery that which I was not prepared to meet prior to Leaving Spring; if I am In possession of funds to purchase Instruments & other materials to Enable me to acct from the knowledge I shall have acquired will soon quit cost and place me In a situation that I can command Respect as a surgeon in an Enlightened community; for to You I say it and long have known it that the country Physicians Generally are not in possesion of that Knowledge that Community Have a Right to Demand at their Hands although Many of them who are considered the best are criminally Deficient of the first Principles of Scientific Surgical knowledge - it is now Eleven oclock and thirty minutes and I must close In order to mail this Ere the mail leaves. when You write me again if you have already written write particularly as to fathers Health mothers and all our friends ---Your own Dear self and the Babies You will not fail to be Verry particular in Every Respect I wish You to write as often as Every week, sure you Can sit Down Even a few minutes Each Day and if You Do not write but little Each time can in 6 or 7 Days Get a sheet well filled and write if John and his ___ wants Pa__Doct Bean to come Home &c &c Mary P Bean } Yours Affectionately A A Bean (Vertically down on left:-) I close for want of further time tell Margaret she may write if she wants to Good bye to Mary and the Chillds
