[At top of page - later deleted?:] I Have been Amused frequently of Late in observing with what a Jaelous Eye Some of the Better Dressed Evening Misses Have Eyed Me; when I turned off from Broadway towards My Boarding House - They Look so good natured & smiling & Have gone so far Some of Them as to Speak fearing perhaps I was Bashful - I Should Have Said one of them - & only one [from?]; I Do not Doubt but I Have Seen one thousand since I Have been Here. Either when I was gowing to or coming from college in the Evening - I Mail a paper to You today and also 1/2 as much in quantity but twice the number to Eliza whic She will probably send You in a few Days - [Vertically, at right-hand side of page:] There is Either 20 or 30 Dollars coming from Lewis Wells as administrator which I Had forgotten to Mention. the Probability is it would be well to Have it called for before it should be otherwise Disposed of - it comes Via Joabs Estate I Recd only 1/2 the amount Last winter which Should Have been paid being $[78.?] [At bottom of page, upside-down:] This will be another of those Dark sheets but I do not know as I can spend time to transcribe it Even if I Have occasion to add more tomorrow - Think of sending You a pattern from which to work a pair of slippers - it is verry Late & I must adjourn for tonight - Wednesday 21st 4 oclock Have been attending Lectures to Day; and witnessed Since the Lectures were over an Interesting Surgical operation the case was permanent flexion of the forearm upon the arm and the Hand upon the forearm - unless You Should Receive this as soon as ten Days from Last Date you probably Had better not write any More Letters unless Something of Importance Should Transpire which You Think I Had better be apprised of for it is possible I May Leave Here about the Middle of February and in that Event if you did not succed in Having it Mailed Immediately I Might not Receive it [addressed:] Mrs. A.A.Bean Spring Crawford County Pennsylvania
