30 Centre Ala Oct 12" 1865 Thursday Moved on this Morning to Centre 13 Miles March, passing through very Rough [tract?] of Country, Inhabitated by very poor people. Reached Centre at one oclock P.M. Took Posession of the Court for Quarter for the Mess, it has been badly neglected and lately has been a habitation for the Goats of the Village. Capt Reed got the old Land Office for His Quarters and Office, & there is good Stabling for our Stock in a Stable used lately by the C.S. Quarter Master. The Citizens seem to be Friendly yet reserved
